FINISHED PIECES FROM PRIVATE LESSON OR PARTIES DISCLAIMER
Pieces made during private lessons and parties are bisqued, glazed, and finished by the instructors unless students pay for an additional lesson to glaze their pieces themselves. Glazes go through a chemical reaction in a kiln that reaches 2,165 degrees. Handmade pottery will inherently have varied surfaces and can have unpredictable glaze results. BrickHouse will not be responsible for any pieces that break during the multiple firings, or if pieces do not fit the student’s aesthetic expectations.
General Policies
Benchtime
Use of studio without instruction is available to currently enrolled students only. Benchtime schedules are posted in the studio by the second week of classes. A fee is required for Benchtime use. Benchtime is not available for students taking workshops unless approved by the Director. Benchtime is non-transferable.
Lockers
Lockers are rented for a fee. Students must provide their own locks. Lockers must be cleaned out at the end of any term or re-rented for the next term. Unpaid lockers are cleaned out after the end of each term and the contents disposed.
Firing of Work
Firing of work is separate from the class fee and is dependent upon readiness of work and kiln firing schedule. Firing charges are 6¢ per cubic inch for 2 firings and are due prior to firing. Student work is stacked by BrickHouse staff whenever a full kiln load is present. We do not offer outside firing.
Returned Checks
Checks that do not clear will incur a $35 processing fee.
Photography
BrickHouse reserves the right to photograph adult and children’s classes and workshops for promotional use on our website or in print publications. Please indicate at the time of registration if you do not wish to have your photograph reproduced.
Inclement Weather
BrickHouse follows New York City’s inclement weather school closing. If City schools are closed, all of our classes are cancelled. Evening and weekend students should check their email or call BrickHouse at 5PM for a recorded message on the status of their class.
